Eala links up with Auger-Aliassime in US Open mixed doubles

Alex Eala will team up with Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime for the upcoming US Open mixed doubles championship on Aug. 24, 2026, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

In an official post by the US Open organization on July 28, 2026, the tandem of Eala and Auger-Aliassime was included in the initial list of competing pairs.

Both players are fresh off convincing campaigns at the 2026 Wimbledon tournament, as the Filipina standout finished with a historic round-of-16 appearance, while Auger-Aliassime reached the quarterfinals.

Eala hopes to sustain her Grand Slam momentum after a run for the ages in which she dethroned Iga Swiatek, got back at Maya Joint, and dominated Renata Zarazua at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Auger-Aliassime also had a memorable Wimbledon performance after reaching the quarterfinals but lost to living legend Novak Djokovic in five grueling sets.

While Eala has experience competing in mixed doubles, most of it came in the SEA Games and other regional tournaments.

Eala’s last mixed doubles stint was during last year’s SEA Games, when she partnered with Philippine men’s national tennis team veteran Francis Casey Alcantara to win the bronze medal in Thailand.

On the other hand, Auger-Aliassime boasts an accomplished mixed doubles career, highlighted by a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics with Gabriela Dabrowski.

Also joining the three-day tournament are Aryna Sabalenka and Djokovic, Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz, Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud, Naomi Osaka and Kei Nishikori, and Mirra Andreeva and Andrey Rublev.

USTA CEO Craig Tiley confirmed that the US Open mixed doubles championship will be presented by Vital Proteins, the No. 1 collagen brand in the U.S.

According to the USTA, the tournament’s winning pair will receive a grand prize of USD 1 million (PHP 61,628,500), while the runners-up and semifinalists will receive USD 400,000 and USD 200,000, respectively.
