Iloilo City — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo Provincial Office conducted an Orientation on Fair Trade Laws (FTLs) and Other Trade Industry Laws for business establishments today, October 8, 2025, at the DTI Region 6 Audio Visual Room, 3rd Floor, DTI Building, J.M. Basa–Peralta Streets, Iloilo City.
The orientation is one of the activities lined up by DTI Iloilo in celebration of Consumer Welfare Month this October 2025, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to raising awareness on consumer rights and promoting fair trade practices across the province.
In her opening message, Ms. Ma. Dorita D. Chavez, OIC Provincial Director of DTI Iloilo, emphasized the need for businesses to stay informed about consumer protection laws and industry standards to foster a fair and trustworthy marketplace.
Atty. Jazer P. Miranda, Legal Officer of DTI Region 6, served as a resource speaker on the Internet Transaction Act and the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark, underscoring their role in ensuring secure and transparent online business transactions. Pat. Ma. Rizel Forro of the PNP Regional Forensic Unit 6 provided practical insights on identifying doubtful documents and fake signatures, helping participants recognize potential fraud and uphold business integrity. Meanwhile, Engr. Romil F. Maro, Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist (STIDS) of DTI Iloilo, discussed updates on Fair Trade Laws, covering the Price Act, Price Tag Law, Correct Labeling, Product Service Warranty, No Return, No Exchange Policy, and Republic Act No. 10909 or the No Shortchanging Act.
The activity served as a valuable platform for business owners and staff to deepen their understanding of trade and consumer laws, supporting DTI’s continuing advocacy for consumer empowerment and ethical business conduct.
