As of June 9, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 6 has distributed P1.085 million worth of food packs to families affected by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon last June 3.
During the third episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on Tuesday, June 11, DSWD VI Regional Director Atty. Carmelo Nochete reported that the aid reached 98.85 percent of the affected households.
The assistance included 1,632 family food packs to 1,651 families impacted by the disaster.
“Apart from the food packs, we deployed a Mobile Command Center equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including satellite internet, two laptops, two printers, a scanner, a camera, large power banks, and 5KVA generators, which can be utilized in disaster-affected areas,” Nochete added.
The department also conducted crash courses in Camp Coordination and Camp Management for its Quick Response Team and representatives from Local Government Units (LGUs) to improve the management of evacuation centers.
Nochete commended the dedication of field personnel assisting in the affected areas.
“Our field employees have been instrumental in assisting the affected localities. We salute the diligence and dedication of our field personnel,” he said.
Meanwhile, the department continues to monitor the situation to ensure that any further needs of the affected areas are promptly addressed.
