A 55-year-old father is now on the run after he allegedly stabbed to death his son early morning of Dec 27, 2021 in Alimodian, Iloilo.
The victim, Archie Caguilla, 27, a resident of Barangay Cuyad, Alimodian, succumbed to a lone stab injury on his chest.
He was taken to Aleosan District Hospital but did not pull through.
According to reports, the incident happened at Barangay Baguingin-Lanot, where the victim’s parents reside.
The victim went there to help pack their mango produce.
At around 1 a.m. Monday, the victim’s father, Nestor Canitan, arrived home.
Master Sergeant Michael Alingalan, Alimodian police investigator, explained that Caguilla’s parents are not married, thus, he was carrying his mother’s surname.
The drunken Canitan began to provoke the victim to a fight. He kept on telling his son that he has not been helping the family.
Caguilla was not able to hold back his anger and answered back. The two later traded punches until they both fell on a bamboo bench.
It was at that juncture that Canitan took a knife and stabbed his son.
He immediately fled after the incident and remains at large as of this writing.
Caguilla’s live-in partner might pursue criminal charges against Canitan.
