ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A 61-year-old woman was wounded after she was hacked by an allegedly drunk man early Thursday morning, May 28, at Sitio Puntod, Barangay Dinginan, Roxas City.
The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. when Derna Fedalgo, 61, was about to close the bamboo gate of her house when the suspect, identified as Roger Azuro, of legal age and a resident of the area, passed by.
Based on the investigation by the Roxas City Police Station, the suspect was armed with a bolo and suddenly hacked Fedalgo on the hand.
The victim was immediately brought to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital for treatment and is in good condition.
The suspect was arrested by the victim’s in-law and son and was turned over to police.
Police said the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
He is under the custody of the Roxas City Police Station for proper disposition.
Police said the suspect was tagged as the killer of his own father, who was found inside a “pozo negro” in 2019.
He was not put behind bars because he was suffering from a mental ailment, police said.
