The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) recently released the first edition of The Philippines Recommends (PR) for Mangrove Crab.
The publication aims to provide updated technologies on mangrove crab production. Furthermore, it tackles the hatchery, nursery, grow out culture, and marketing aspect of mangrove crab.
This edition was developed through a committee composed of experts from the academe, private institutions, and other government agencies. Dr. Emilia T. Quinitio of the Integrated Services for the Development of Aquaculture and Fisheries (ISDA) Inc. served as the Technical Committee Chair.
The members of the committee include Mr. Wilfredo G. Yap of SANTEH Aquaculture S&T Foundation Inc.; Dr. Ma. Rowena R. Eguia, Dr. Fe Dolores P. Estepa, Dr. Edgar C. Amar, Dr. Eleonor A. Tendencia, and Dr. Veronica R. Alava of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center – Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD); Dr. Ma. Carmen A. Lagman of the De La Salle University; Dr. Rachel R. Gotanco of the University of the Philippines Diliman – Marine Science Institute; Dr. Relicardo M. Coloso of the University of San Agustin; Dr. Fe L. Porciuncula of the Central Luzon State University; Ms. Consuelo C. Baltazar of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources; Dr. Jose P. Peralta of the University of the Philippines Visayas; and Ms. Jhoana V. Alcalde of the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

The PR series includes semi-technical packages of practical technology recommendations on important commodities. It is designed for extension workers and enterprising farmers and fisherfolk.
