DOST now accepts S&T scholarship applicants

The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) opens its the 2021 S&T Undergraduate Scholarship Program for incoming Grade 12 students who wish to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) – related courses.

This scholarship program is open to all natural-born Filipinos in Grade 12 of SY 2020‐2021, a member of the STEM strand or those belonging to the top five percent (5%) of a non‐STEM strand.

Qualified students may pursue a Bachelor of Science degree program in any of the priority fields of study at a state university or college or any private higher education institution that is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education as Center of Excellence (COE) or Center of Development (COD) or with at least FAAP Level III accreditation for private institutions.

Gelonga, DOST VI Regional Director shares his message to the future scholars in the recently conducted online scholars orientation, “As a scholar, the benefits that you will be getting will be coming from the hard-earned taxes of the Filipino people.  It will be coming from the wages earned by our farmers, fisherfolks, our small businessmen, our entrepreneurs, our office employees, even us government employees, and OFWs.  All of those Filipino people, all of us will be contributing to your education.  As such you have a responsibility to study well while you are a scholar of the government.  You have a responsibility to finish your course on time.  You have a responsibility if eventually become a professional so do good in your work. You have a responsibility to contribute to nation building. You have a responsibility to strive for a better future for yourself.  Because we believe and the Filipino believe that if you have a great future ahead of you, our future will also become better.”

The S&T scholarship program aims to stimulate and entice talented Filipino youths to pursue lifetime productive careers in science and technology and ensure a steady, adequate supply of qualified S&T human resources which can steer the country towards nation progress. (/BPanes/DOSTVI-KMU)
