Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire announced that his confirmatory test for COVID-19 came out negative after testing positive in previous results with a week before his mega bout against Emmanuel Rodriguez.
The Donaire camp together with wife and manager Rachel initiated a secondary follow-up test for confirmation and the negative results were posted on their social media accounts.
To make their case, Donaire posted the actual photo of the COVID result on December 11, 2020, specifically on his official Twitter account.
With the negative result now confirmed, Donaire is pursuing to have his bout reinstated against Puerto Rican Rodriguez for the World Boxing Council (WBC) interim bantamweight title.
Earlier, news of Donaire testing positive for COVID-19 forced organizers to find a late replacement which they found in co-Filipino Reymart Gaballo.
Donaire and his camp hopes that the one week left before the fight proper will give them enough time to revert the decision and put the Filipino Flash back into the main card.
