BACOLOD CITY — The Department of Health–Negros Island Region (DOH-NIR) reported a total of 155 fireworks-related injuries and 600 road crash injuries in its final holiday season tally released Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Negros Occidental recorded the highest number of fireworks-related injuries with 118 cases, followed by Negros Oriental with 30, Bacolod City with six, and Siquijor with one.
The reported fireworks-related injuries included 112 blast or burn injuries without amputation, 27 eye injuries, four blast or burn injuries with amputation, and 11 cases involving both eye injury and blast or burn injury without amputation.
For road crash incidents, Negros Occidental again topped the list with 334 cases, followed by Negros Oriental with 173, Siquijor with 81, and Bacolod City with 12.
The DOH-NIR also logged seven deaths resulting from road crashes, most of which involved motorcycle accidents.
The fatalities included four in Negros Occidental, two in Negros Oriental, and one in Siquijor, while no road crash deaths were reported in Bacolod City.
The DOH-NIR launched its annual campaign for a safe holiday season on Dec. 15, 2025, urging the public to avoid illegal fireworks, practice road safety, and seek immediate medical attention for injuries to reduce preventable deaths and accidents during the festivities.
