DepEd-6 Welcomes New OIC-Regional Director

Dr. Cristito A. Eco, CESO III, officially assumed office as officer-in-charge, regional director of the Department of Education (DepEd) Region VI on Monday, May 5, succeeding Dr. Ramir B. Uytico, CESO III.
His appointment was formally marked during an installation ceremony held May 2 at Smallville 21 Hotel in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
The event was led by DepEd NCR Regional Director and concurrent officer-in-charge of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Operations, Director Jocelyn DR Andaya, CESO III.
Andaya expressed full confidence in Eco’s capacity to lead the region.
“OIC-RD Eco is more than ready to take the helm,” she said, noting that greater positions come with increased responsibility and accountability.
In his message, Eco outlined his leadership priorities, including promoting innovation and ensuring the efficient delivery of basic education services across the region.
“I look forward to collaborating with education leaders, teachers and stakeholders in ensuring the delivery of quality basic education,” he said.
“Let us inspire change and champion excellence in this region.”
The installation also marked the formal assumption of Dr. Ramir B. Uytico as regional director of the newly established Negros Island Region, following its official reconstitution as a separate administrative region in July 2024.
Uytico, who led DepEd Region VI for more than four years, expressed gratitude for his tenure and optimism for the region’s future.
“I will be leaving with a happy heart,” he said.
“OIC-RD Eco will ensure continuity of the programs that we started in the Home of the Champions.”
SDS Anthony H. Liobet, CESO V, was also installed as officer-in-charge, assistant regional director of DepEd Region VI.
With the new officials in place, DepEd Region VI reaffirmed its commitment to providing accessible, inclusive and quality basic education to every learner in the region.
