The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region VI concluded its monthlong Environment Month 2025 celebration with a culminating program held June 30 at the DENR regional office courtyard.
The event carried the national theme “Ending Global Plastic Pollution.”
It featured messages from national and regional officials, recognition of partners, a mass oath-taking of newly appointed and promoted personnel, and awarding of trophies, certificates and cash prizes to winners of sports events, including ballgames and Laro ng Lahi.
DENR Region VI Regional Executive Director Raul L. Lorilla highlighted the region’s collective commitment to environmental protection and the goal of building a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Western Visayas.
He emphasized that DENR and its partners must not only maintain but improve the region’s environmental well-being.
Key officials in attendance included Regional Director Cecilia L. Ochavo-Saycon of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region VI, Regional Director Atty. Ramar Niel V. Pascua of the Environmental Management Bureau Region VI, and ARD for Management Services June Melliza C. Garol, along with officials and personnel from various PENROs and CENROs.
DENR Assistant Secretary for Human Resources and Sectoral Initiatives Hiro V. Masuda, Ph.D., CESO III, delivered an inspiring message during the event.
Masuda emphasized the critical role of DENR personnel, stating, “Lagi niyo pong tandaan ang galing at lakas ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources ay lagi pong nanggagaling dito sa kanyang human resource (Always remember that the excellence and strength of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources always come from its human resources).”
His words aimed to reignite the passion of the agency’s workforce, assuring them their contributions are vital and appreciated.
A portion of the program was devoted to recognizing the outstanding efforts of DENR Region VI personnel.
It also honored partner stakeholders who support the agency’s various environmental initiatives.
The event was not just about awards and recognition but a celebration of shared efforts toward the protection of the environment and natural resources.
