ANOTHER mangrove planting activity along Esplanade 6 was conducted recently. Its was spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources through its Provincial ENR Office-Iloilo. Also in collaboration with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), volunteers were able to plant 400 mangrove seedlings of Bungalon species.
Two strips were planted at 300 linear meters per strip with spacing of 1×1 meter.
This kind of activity helps to protect communities from flood and storm. Mangroves also provide habitats for marine animal and substantialy aid in storing carbon dioxide. (DENR6-CENRO-Guimbal)
