Creamline sweeps Gerflor to improve to 2-0 in PVL Invitational Conference

The Creamline Cool Smashers showed no signs of fatigue despite seeing action on the opening game day of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference, sweeping the debuting Gerflor squad, 25-18, 25-11, 25-12, last June 29, 2023, held at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

With the win, the Cool Smashers are still unbeaten in two games after an offensive masterpiece against the Chery Tiggo Pro Crossovers a couple of days ago.

It wasn’t the same fluid start for Creamline against Gerflor as their cross-court attack sets were read well by the middle blockers of Gerflor.

Gerflor’s defensive efficiency and clever offensive approach helped them reach striking distance in the opening set and even equalized the game at 15-all.

However, after the duo of Tots Carlos and Jema Galanza started to light up the Cool Smashers’ attacking department, the reigning All-Filipino Conference queens just steamrolled their way into the game.

Creamline’s outside hits were just unstoppable and got a decent offensive distribution from superstar setter Jia Morado-De Guzman.

Aside from their signature fiery offense, the Cool Smashers also banked on their clutch floor defense in the last two sets.

Their tremendous communication and synchronization at the backline helped them recover several loose balls generated from Gerflor’s short attacks.

It was also a perfect time for Creamline’s middle blockers to step their game up after already figuring out Gerflor’s offensive schemes midway through the second set.

Once their blocking started to click, Gerflor stood no chance and could only watch the Cool Smashers punish them with their hitting party in the final set.
