The Creamline Cool Smashers remained the hottest team in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference after repelling the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-14, 17-25, 25-18, 25-23, on March 3, 2026, at the Playtime FilOil Centre.
With another victory, Creamline stretched its PVL winning streak to four consecutive games and has yet to drop a single match since losing its conference opener at the hands of the PLDT High Speed Hitters.
The Cool Smashers kicked off their fifth PVL scheduled game with an efficient two-way display, banking on a fiery start from superstar outside hitter Tots Carlos, who set the tone for Creamline with five early points.
As soon as Creamline built a double-digit lead, the winningest club in the history of the PVL never looked back, as it quickly jumped to a 1-0 lead.
However, the Highrisers responded with a sense of urgency, matching Creamline’s tenacity while doubling their effort in covering the open gaps in the back row, which the Cool Smashers exposed.
Jean Asis steered Galeries’ spirited second-set outing, delivering crucial points midway through the frame that prevented Carlos’ personal scoring run from inching Creamline closer.
Just when the Highrisers thought they could replicate their mid-game streak against the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, the Cool Smashers played spoiler, shifting gears in the third set through spiker Jema Galanza, who joined Carlos in the offensive party.
From leading by only three points, Galanza’s scoring resurgence helped Creamline build a nine-point cushion, en route to a commanding 25-18 third-set win.
The fourth and final set provided the Cool Smashers a huge scare, as Galeries gave their all to turn a one-sided outing into a mano-a-mano thriller.
Creamline was already bound for a flawless finish after building an 11-point lead, 12-1, but the Highrisers refused to fold and came close to forcing a deciding tiebreaker, pulling within a point at 24-23.
The one-two punch of Asis and Erika Deloria carried Galeries in the fightback, supported by Julia Coronel’s on-point ball distribution on offense.
Unfortunately, Creamline spoiled Galeries’ ultimate goal of extending the game to a winner-take-all fifth set, as veteran middle blocker Jeannette Panaga sealed the win for the Cool Smashers with a much-needed hit.
Carlos spearheaded Creamline’s victory with a game-high 19-point performance on 16 successful attacks, alongside seven excellent receptions and two service aces.
Meanwhile, the duo of Bernadeth Pons and Galanza chipped in 15 and 12 points, respectively, while Panaga added 11 points, including the game-winning attack.
On the other hand, Galeries received a 23-point combined effort from Asis and Deloria, but their offensive heroics weren’t enough to halt their PVL bleeding.
The Cool Smashers will look to pick up their fifth straight win on March 7, 2026, against the Nxled Chameleons, while the Highrisers aim to rebound on March 10, 2026, against PLDT.
