A couple was killed inside their house in a hinterland village of Alimodian, Iloilo evening of February 1, 2021.
Police identified the victims as Areston Alves, 62, and his common-law wife, 60-year-old Georgina Miller, of Barangay Malamboy-Bondolan, Alimodian.
Neighbors said Alvez and Miller, who were natives of Mindanao, had been living in Alimodian for 15 years already.
Alvez was from South Cotabato while Miller hailed from Zamboanga.
Major Sullen Domingo, Alimodian police chief, said a village official heard gunfire around 7:30PM Tuesday.
When village officials checked the couple’s abode, they immediately saw Alves’ body slumped on the doorstep.
He suffered gunshot wounds on his back and right eye.
They later found Miller inside the bedroom with gunshot injuries on her body.
The most fatal was on her face, Domingo said.
They were taken to Aleosan District Hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.
Domingo said no one witnessed the incident.
The nearest house from that of the victims’ was about 50 meters away.
Domingo said investigation is still going on to identify the suspects and to establish the motive behind the killing.
