Conor “The Notorious” McGregor is aiming to return inside the octagon.
Talking about one of the fighters who helped elevate the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) from 2015 to 2021, the Irish superstar might grab a spot on the fight card of the upcoming White House event, confirmed by the organization’s CEO and president, Dana White.
In the latest episode of the IMPAULSIVE podcast, White made an appearance and publicly announced McGregor’s intent to fight again after four years of inactivity.
“So, Conor says he’s coming back,” White said.
“He’s in the testing pool. There’s tons of footage of him training. You know, he wants to fight on this White House card. We’ll see. I mean, we won’t start building that card until February.”
McGregor last fought in the UFC in 2021, where he lost against Dustin Poirier after injuring his leg, forcing the match referee to call an official stoppage.
Everyone got hyped up when McGregor agreed to fight Michael Chandler last year, but a broken pinky toe he sustained during the training camp forced White to cancel the bout.
Since the midseason of 2024, McGregor showed no intention to fight again in the UFC, but the White House event next year is a different story.
A major payday might be in store for White’s cash cow, as the White House event is part of the preparations for the 250th anniversary of the United States’ founding next year.
“Conor is a guy that has fought injured. Conor was a guy that, a fighter falls out, we slid in a stylistically bad matchup for him. He doesn’t care. He literally will fight anybody,” White added.
McGregor is no stranger to huge UFC events after becoming the first fighter in the history of the MMA promotion to hold two belts in two separate divisions.
He will forever be remembered for recording the fastest knockout in a title bout (13 seconds), against the great Jose Aldo in 2015.
