Clippers bring back Bradley Beal on 2-year extension deal

The Los Angeles Clippers and Bradley Beal have agreed to a two-year, USD 13.2 million contract extension, as announced on Aug. 15, 2026.

After playing only six games last NBA season due to a series of injuries, the Clippers gave the former three-time All-Star another shot at redemption once the 2026-2027 regular season begins this October.

According to ESPN veteran NBA insider Shams Charania, Beal’s two-year deal includes a player option in the second season, giving him the right to stay with the Clippers or reject the remaining terms and enter free agency.

The Clippers signed Beal during last year’s free agency in hopes of turning the franchise around as part of Kawhi Leonard and James Harden’s supporting cast.

However, on Nov. 13, 2025, the Clippers shut down Beal for the rest of the regular season due to a devastating hip injury, causing a major setback to LA’s plans.

Beal’s move from the Phoenix Suns to the Clippers was rated as one of the biggest offseason acquisitions, as his stay in Arizona didn’t translate into a winning culture despite teaming up with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.

His stay in Phoenix was also clouded by injuries — a sight the Suns didn’t want to see — after he dealt with hamstring, calf, toe, ankle, and hip issues.

With only two months left before the 2026-2027 NBA season begins, Beal has yet to receive the green light to return to play as he is still recovering from a hip injury.

Multiple reports have already confirmed that Beal has resumed on-court activities but only in a limited capacity, a huge development for the rebuilding Clippers, who already lost Leonard’s services in a trade with the Toronto Raptors.

The Clippers have already moved on from the Leonard-Harden era and will be led by a retooled roster headlined by Beal, Darius Garland, Brandon Ingram, Bennedict Mathurin, Rui Hachimura, and Brook Lopez.
