Clark Freeport will host the 2025 Sports Tourism Forum on November 7 at the SMX Convention Center Clark, affirming its status as one of the Philippines’ leading sports and events destinations.
The one-day forum is organized by the Philippine Sports Turismo Alliance, Inc. with support from Clark Development Corporation, Department of Tourism (DOT), Tourism Promotion Board, SMX Clark, and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority.
Expected attendees include national sports associations, local government units, hotel executives, sports facility managers, event organizers, and corporate sponsors from across the country.
The event aligns with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s call to use sports as a driver of tourism growth and economic development.
“The Philippines is off the starting blocks to prove itself as a great sports host country,” said Charles Lim, President and CEO of Sports Turismo Alliance, Inc.
“International sporting events such as the FIBA World Cup in 2023, the ongoing FIVB World Championship and the forthcoming FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup, are great testimonies of our capability and popularity as a sports hub,” Lim added.
The forum will feature an international panel of speakers led by Igor Topole, President of the International Children’s Games.
Other speakers invited include Maggie Hsu of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, Marga M. Nograles of the Tourism Promotion Board, Patrick Gregorio of the Philippine Sports Commission, and Princess Galura of Sunrise Events, Inc.
Also joining the panel are Carlo Sampan, Milo Marathon Program Director, and Robby Alabado, Director at the DOT.
“Maximizing and sustaining our sports programs and facilities is still a challenge for major sports hubs while local sports tournaments can be developed in small cities into national and international events,” said Lim.
Key topics to be discussed include the economic, cultural, social, environmental, and developmental impacts of hosting sports events.
A cultural dinner will close the forum, hosted by Clark Development Corporation, as part of the launch of “Happening On The Green.”
