The Chery Tiggo Pro Crossovers got the better of the Army Black Mamba, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16, 25-12, to stay undefeated in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference last February 11, 2023.
Mylene Paat went MVP mode against the veteran-filled Army team and finished the match with 26 points built from 22 successful attacks.
Aside from her blazing display of offense, Paat also put up an all-around performance after tallying 12 excellent digs and four big blocks.
It was the national team spiker who kicked off Chery Tiggo’s spiking clinic during the tightly-contested first set.
Despite Army’s collective effort in the following set that equalized the match at one set apiece, Paat was unfazed and helped regain her team’s momentum when she unloaded a personal 3-0 run midway through the third set capped off by a cross-court spike.
Paat’s energy then injected some life into her teammates and sparked a crucial counter run when Army attempted to inch close in the third set.
It was then all Chery Tiggo in the last set as their set offensive schemes out-smarted Army’s middle blockers who were having a great time defensively in the first two sets.
The duo of Cza Carandang and EJ Laure took some load off Paat’s scoring load in the last set and chipped in 12 points each in the huge win.
Meanwhile, Army got decent numbers from veteran Honey Royse Tubino after contributing 16 points and 15 digs but his two-way effort wasn’t enough to spearhead a comeback attempt.
