The Chery Tiggo EV Crossovers’ search for their Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference import is now over after tapping Cuba’s Yunieska Batista, announced Sept. 16, 2025.
Chery Tiggo formally welcomed the Cuban veteran in a video presentation posted on its official Facebook page, captioned: “Power, performance, and new energy! Outside hitter Yunieska Batista joins the Chery Tiggo EV Crossovers.”
After finishing the past two conferences short of a championship bid, the EV Crossovers went all in by acquiring the stalwart’s services for their upcoming campaign in the import-laced conference.
Before agreeing to join the Philippines-based franchise, Batista last played in Turkey, boosting the Yesilyurt Spor Kulubu club.
A former member of the 2010 Cuba women’s national volleyball team, Batista brings a wealth of international experience to the hungry Chery Tiggo squad.
Batista began her professional volleyball career in 2009 under the local Cuban club La Isla. After two seasons, she transferred to Santiago de Cuba and took the league by storm.
Her standout campaign with Santiago de Cuba helped boost her overseas import stock, leading to a stint in the Azerbaijan league with Lokomotiv Bileceri.
From 2015 to 2024, Batista became a household name overseas, touring around Greece, Poland, Israel and Turkey.
Batista will join a formidable team spearheaded by captain Aby Maraño, Jasmine Nabor, Jennifer Nierva, Princess Anne Robles, Imee Hernandez and Shaya Adorador.
The EV Crossovers will still be mentored by one of the winningest collegiate coaches in the country, Norman Miguel, and managed by Diane Angeleen Lastimosa.
