BACOLOD City – The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) announced that disconnection of delinquent consumer accounts will continue to be suspended during the period of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) but it also encouraged its consumers to pay their bills to sustain its operations.
In a media statement, CENECO said it also would like to clarify its previous notice regarding the resumption of office collection.
It said that “CENECO would like to emphasize that our office will be opened starting Monday, April 13, 2020 to cater to consumers who cannot process their payments online but would like to pay their bills.”
Earlier, CENECO said it will resume its collection of electricity bills payment in Bacolod main office and area offices in Bago, Murcia, Talisay and Silay on Monday.
In its subsequent statement CENECO, clarified that “while payment of bills, although voluntary, during this Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), is strongly encouraged for CENECO to sustain its operations as well as meet its financial obligations with power suppliers to ensure continuous electricity service.”
It further said that the purpose of the actual meter reading is to record the actual consumption of consumers.
Automatic adjustments will be made in the April bill to correct possible over/under billing in the previously estimated March bill which was based on previous three months average billing.
CENECO further said “we would like to reiterate that CENECO truly understands its consumers’ plight during this COVID-19 pandemic and pandemonium.”
Disconnection will continue to be suspended while Negros Occidental is under ECQ, it reiterated.
It also reminded that “Paying consumers are reminded to follow precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, such as wearing of masks and observance of physical distancing.”
