Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB) received two major accolades at the 2025 ESGBusiness Awards in Malaysia, recognizing the airline’s leadership in “Sustainable Transportation” and “Diversity & Inclusion.”
These awards place the Philippine low-cost carrier among Asia’s top-performing companies in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.
The ESGBusiness Awards is regarded as one of the region’s leading platforms for honoring corporate excellence in sustainability, CSR, and inclusive growth.
“As Cebu Pacific grows, we want affordable travel to also create a positive impact for people and communities,” said Candice Iyog, CEB Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer.
“Inclusivity and sustainability remain central to how we shape the future of travel,” Iyog added.
The airline has earned recognition for pioneering inclusion in aviation, becoming the first in Southeast Asia to be certified by Great Place to Work® in 2024.
CEB also broke new ground by hiring openly transgender cabin crew, launching internship programs for neurodiverse students, and offering extended benefits to same-sex and common-law partners.
“Our workforce—spanning 31 nationalities, 15 employee groups, and people of all genders, faiths, and abilities—enables Cebu Pacific to adapt, grow, and deliver for our customers,” said Felix Lopez, CEB Chief Human Resources Officer.
“This recognition belongs to our teammates who support and uplift one another. At Cebu Pacific, we don’t just move people; we move progress,” Lopez added.
On the sustainability front, Cebu Pacific has modernized its fleet and improved fuel efficiency, helping it achieve one of the industry’s lowest carbon intensities at 62.4 grams of CO₂ per available seat kilometer.
According to the Cirium Flight Emissions Review 2024, CEB ranked 18th globally among airlines in carbon performance.
With one of Asia’s youngest fleets, the airline saved nearly 50 million kilograms of fuel and avoided more than 150,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions in 2024.
CEB is also the only low-cost carrier in Southeast Asia to secure a sustainability-linked loan (SLL), connecting its financing terms directly to emission-reduction targets.
“Sustainability is integral to Cebu Pacific’s growth strategy,” said Aileen Isidro, CEB Vice President for Corporate Strategy and Risk Officer.
“By aligning affordable travel with responsible operations, we ensure that our expansion is both competitive and future-ready,” Isidro added.
Cebu Pacific now operates flights to 36 domestic and 27 international destinations, continuing its mission to make travel inclusive, accessible, and sustainable for every Juan.
