Cebu Pacific opens OFW center at MCIA

Cebu Pacific has opened an Overseas Filipino Worker Facilitation Center at Mactan-Cebu International Airport Terminal 2, giving departing and returning migrant workers easier access to travel and government services at one of the country’s busiest international gateways.

The airline, listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange as CEB and described as the Philippines’ leading carrier, said the facility was officially launched in partnership with the Department of Migrant Workers and Mactan-Cebu International Airport operator Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation.

Designed as a one-stop service center, the facility allows OFWs to process Overseas Employment Certificates and access other travel-related services directly at the airport.

“We recognize the invaluable contributions of overseas Filipino workers to our nation and remain committed to supporting their journey every step of the way,” said Candice Iyog, CEB Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer. “The opening of this facility reflects our ongoing efforts to provide more accessible and responsive services that address the unique needs of OFWs and their families.”

Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the center supports the agency’s push to bring government services closer to migrant workers and make them easier to access.

“Our responsibility begins not only when an OFW encounters a problem, but also before departure, giving our OFWs the assistance they need and remaining active until their return. Today, right here in Cebu, we show that the DMW is deeply committed to bringing that government presence closer to our people,” said DMW Sec. Hans Leo Cacdac.

The facility is expected to help OFWs complete key pre-departure requirements with less inconvenience, particularly those transiting through Cebu for work abroad or returning to their families in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The launch comes as remittances from overseas Filipino workers remain a major pillar of the Philippine economy. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas data showed cash remittances reached USD 35.63 billion in 2025, up 3.3 percent from USD 34.49 billion in 2024.

The BSP also reported that land-based workers sent USD 28.49 billion in 2025, while sea-based workers remitted USD 6.94 billion.

Cebu Pacific said the OFW Facilitation Center is the latest in its initiatives for overseas Filipinos.

These include the airline’s OFW balikbayan program, Juan Flight Closer to Home, which encourages skilled Filipinos working overseas to return to the Philippines and pursue career opportunities in the country’s growing aviation industry.

Cebu Pacific currently operates flights to 35 domestic destinations and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia and the Middle East.
