Tokyo Olympics bound gymnast Carlos Yulo just bagged two bronze medals in his return after a short drought of tournaments due to COVID-19.
The Filipino prized athlete impressed during the 2020 All-Japan Championships in Takasaki and placed eighth overall in the final standings.
Yulo was able to grab the third place in the floor final with a score of 15.200 behind two great gymnasts in Minami Kazuki and Doi Ryosuke who scored 15.600 and 15.300 respectively.
Meanwhile, in the vault event, Yulo also turned heads and managed to secure the third-place spot after scoring 14.866 while Yonekura Hidenobu got the gold with 15.133 and Asato Keisuke placed second with 15.083.
This was Yulo’s first competition since taking a break and focusing on his intensive training for the Olympics.
A few months ago, Yulo and his camp left for Japan for a scheduled intensive training funded by a few of his sponsors and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
