Carlos Yulo pulled off a majestic performance during the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships after winning the all-around silver medal held in Singapore last June 15, 2023.
Yulo registered a total of 85.93 points to secure the silver medal and replicated his achievement when he also nabbed second place in the last edition of the Asian Gymnastics Championships.
Nipping Yulo in the all-around ranking was Japan’s Shinnousuke Oka after tallying 86.065 points while Takeru Kitazono completed the podium finishers with a score of 85.431 points.
The Filipino superstar had his best moment during the parallel bars category when he amassed a total of 15.66 points.
In the floor exercise and the vault event, Yulo also came up with decent final run scores and got 14.966 and 14.866 points, respectively.
With his stellar campaign in Singapore, Yulo is now qualified for the upcoming World Gymnastics Championships in Belgium this September.
Yulo only needed to crack into the Top 8 of the prestigious event in Singapore but the Filipino chose to go all out to reward the Philippines with another podium finish.
If Yulo will be able to get over the hump in the World Championships in Belgium, he will then earn an outright seat in the Paris Games.
The World Championships is the only qualifying tournament for the Paris Games, the grand competition which Yulo intensely prepared for since the start of his playing calendar.
Yulo will return to the stage today for the apparatus finals after finishing the previous round as the top qualifier in the parallel bars, floor exercise, and the vault.
