Carlos Yulo added another gold medal to his stacked collection after ruling the men’s vault during the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships on Oct. 25, 2025, at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta.
With another impressive championship run, the reigning Olympic champion collected his second world title; he previously bagged his maiden vault trophy four years ago.
After only wrapping up the qualification round with a score of 14.750, Yulo performed when his back was against the wall, nipping Armenia’s Artur Davtyan with a combination of sharper execution and flawless runs.
Yulo finished his Indonesian trip with the championship-sealing score of 14.866, highlighted by a series of perfectly executed pikes and clean landings.
The 25-year-old gymnastics phenom immediately wowed the crowd with a piked Dragulescu as his opening routine, followed by half twists that quickly boosted his scoring tally.
To end his first vault, Yulo opted for a clean landing, which was perfectly executed to garner 15.200 points, including 9.500 in execution.
The second and final vault brought more drama when the other competitors displayed an array of unique routines, especially Davtyan, who came in last.
However, Yulo sealed the deal after opening with a handspring and made it more creative when he twisted for a total score of 14.533.
The pride of Armenia also showed off his off-season preparation after averaging 14.833 across two vault performances, but Yulo still came out on top with a 0.033 slight edge.
Completing the list of podium finishers behind Yulo and Davtyan was Ukraine’s Nazar Chepurnyi, who managed to score 14.483 for the bronze medal.
