It’s insane how Carlos Alcaraz has already made winning titles a habit.
On Feb. 22, 2026, the 22-year-old tennis stalwart added another golden trophy to his prestigious collection, clinching the Qatar Open title after crushing Arthur Fils in the grand finals, 6-2, 6-1, at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.
With the one-sided championship win, Alcaraz maintained his ATP World No. 1 ranking, while capturing his 26th tour-level trophy during the 500 event in Qatar.
If there’s any word to describe the young Spaniard in the finals, it would be MERCILESS.
Eager to cap off his Qatar tour with a convincing win, Alcaraz displayed another offensive masterclass, submerging Fils into a deep bag of scoring tricks that landed inside the line at will.
From his on-the-rise forehand bombs to his clinical passing shots, Alcaraz looked invincible throughout the match and needed just 50 minutes to take down the French challenger.
Another crazy stat line during the title-sealing win was Alcaraz’s 13-shot streak midway through the frame, a huge boost that helped the seven-time Grand Slam winner take a comfortable 4-1 lead.
Despite massive adjustments Fils deployed in hopes of slowing Alcaraz down, all those strategic moves went to no avail as the waxing-hot king met force with force, neutralizing any parrying counters with topspin down-the-line winners.
To make things worse, Fils’ signature booming backhand had little effect on Alcaraz’s baseline composure. There were moments when the 21-year-old aspirant nearly bagged two points off those strokes, but the more experienced netter positioned precisely in no man’s land to catch the power with a volley follow-through.
After just two sets, Alcaraz wrapped up the championship round with 52 total points won, 24 on the return, including five service aces and five break points.
“I came this year hungry for more,” Alcaraz said.
“It’s been a really strong start to the year. I had to be strong mentally with my team. I’m just playing great tennis and I’m really happy about this week. This trophy means a lot to me.”
