Filipino mixed martial artist (MMA) Carlo Bumina-ang officially returned to the ONE Fighting Championship winning column after scoring a technical knockout (TKO) victory over Brazil’s Marcos Aurelio during ONE Fight Night 39 on Jan. 24, 2026, at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The bantamweight star only needed two rounds to repel Aurelio as he wrapped up the contest at the 4:10 mark with a barrage of vicious left hooks.
With the win, Bumina-ang recovered from a tough submission loss to Elbek Alyshov last November and boosted his chances of earning another bantamweight interim title shot.
Unlike his past fight, where he kicked off the match with a passive approach of reading Alyshov’s tendencies, Bumina-ang didn’t hesitate to step on the gas pedal and immediately overwhelmed Aurelio with his left-hand power.
Forty-nine seconds after the opening bell, the Filipino knockout artist made his presence felt with a counter left hook, followed by a right jab–left uppercut combination.
Those hard landings forced Aurelio to take a back step and respect Bumina-ang’s power, and most importantly, neutralized the Brazilian’s hounding pressure.
All hell broke loose in the second round when Aurelio fought fire with fire, engaging Bumina-ang in a stand-up fight, which he would soon regret as the intense exchange progressed.
At the 4:22 mark of the second round, Bumina-ang scored an emphatic knockdown after tagging Aurelio with a snappy left hook.
To Bumina-ang’s surprise, Aurelio quickly got back to his feet and threw some wild haymakers, but none of those landed as his wobbly state took a toll on his brave stand.
Bumina-ang then delivered the fatal blow at the 4:11 mark, after hitting Aurelio with three more powerful left hooks and a right straight to seal the deal.
Due to Aurelio’s struggle, the official match referee stepped between the two fighters, waving both of his arms to signal the end of the bantamweight showdown.
The massive victory improved Bumina-ang’s ONE win-loss record to 9-2, while Aurelio tasted his first-ever defeat and slid to eight wins and a loss.
