Carlo Biado’s achievements in the sport of billiards will forever be immortalized after he was elected to the Billiard Congress of America (BCA) Hall of Fame on Aug. 12, 2025.
Still an active player at 41 years old, Biado became the sixth Filipino to receive the BCA enshrinement, following Efren “Bata” Reyes, Francisco Bustamante, Jose Parica, Alex Pagulayan, and Dennis Orcollo.
“I am in shock,” Biado said. “I am not expecting this now. I think I am not ready yet, but since I was elected, I’m going to take it. It is a blessing, and I’m going to share this with my fellow players in the Philippines.”
Biado will be formally inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame on Nov. 22, 2025, at the Renaissance Resort in St. Augustine, Florida.
It was a roller-coaster journey for the Filipino after struggling to find his footing in the first 10 years of his professional billiards career.
Instead of settling for a national tour focusing on money games, Biado didn’t give up and slowly embraced the limelight when he bagged the 2015 WPA World 10-Ball Championship.
From that point, Biado would transcend in the sport as he dominated the nine-ball platform. His first world title came in 2017, followed by a scintillating performance over defending champion Fedor Gorst to claim this year’s crown jewel of nine-ball.
Biado not only reigned supreme during the most prestigious tournament, but he also made history by becoming the first Filipino to win the World Pool Championship twice.
Aside from his WPC and WPA titles, Biado also ruled the 2021 US Open Pool Championship, 2021 Abu Dhabi 9-Ball Open, and the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City 9-Ball Open.
“I never really thought about the Hall of Fame,” Biado said. “My main dream was always to be a world champion.”
Congratulations, Champ Carlo!
