Capiz jail inspection finds knife, lighter, aluminum foil
By Felipe V. Celino
ROXAS CITY, Capiz — No illegal drugs were reported recovered during a surprise “Oplan Galugad” inspection conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at the Capiz Rehabilitation Center (CRC) in Barangay Lawaan, Roxas City.
However, authorities recovered aluminum foil, a lighter and a knife during the inspection.
The surprise search covered four cells housing approximately 381 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), including 14 women.
The operation was part of continuing efforts to prevent the entry and use of illegal drugs and other prohibited items inside the provincial jail.
In November 2025, a similar surprise inspection at the CRC resulted in the recovery of four sachets of suspected shabu and several prohibited items.
CRC Provincial Jail Warden Arjuna Yngcong said the inspection was jointly conducted by personnel of the PDEA K9 Unit and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The operation aimed to determine whether contraband continued to be smuggled into the provincial jail and whether inmates were engaging in illegal activities.
During the previous inspection, authorities recovered four sachets of suspected shabu, including one from Cell 1 and three from Cell 3.
Drug paraphernalia and several pointed objects were also confiscated.
The inspections form part of ongoing security measures to prevent illegal activities and maintain order within the detention facility.
