ILOILO CITY — Iloilo province’s budget will increase by nearly PHP 1 billion in 2027 after the 15th Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved the PHP 7.86 billion spending plan on third and final reading Oct. 21.
Under Appropriation Ordinance No. 2026-03, Series of 2026, the allocation is about PHP 980 million, or 14.2%, higher than the province’s PHP 6.88 billion budget for 2026.
Of the total, PHP 6.10 billion is allocated to the General Fund, while PHP 1.76 billion is earmarked for local economic enterprises.
The 2026 budget consists of PHP 5.53 billion for the General Fund and PHP 1.35 billion for local economic enterprises.
The General Fund allocation will increase by about PHP 570 million, while funding for local economic enterprises will rise by about PHP 410 million.
The local economic enterprises allocation covers province-run facilities, including district hospitals.
The Committee on Appropriations, chaired by Board Member Dominic Paul C. Oso, led the budget deliberations.
Vice Gov. Nathalie Ann Debuque thanked Oso and the other provincial board members for their cooperation in the process.
She also acknowledged Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. and the provincial government for their collaboration.
“With the budget approved, our shared responsibility is to translate these resources into responsive programs, improved public services, and meaningful development for the Ilonggos,” Debuque said in a statement.
Defensor earlier said the budget would fund the provincial government’s priority programs, with infrastructure among the major spending areas.
The Provincial Engineer’s Office is expected to receive a substantial allocation for provincial infrastructure projects.
The administration’s priority programs include Tanum Iloilo, Limpyo Iloilo, SiPag at TiyaGa, and 4K for MoRProGRes under its Movement for a Robust, Progressive, Globally Competitive, and Resilient Iloilo agenda.
Tanum Iloilo focuses on reforestation and forest protection, while Limpyo Iloilo supports local governments in improving solid waste management.
SiPag at TiyaGa promotes food and health security through agricultural and community-based interventions, while 4K for MoRProGRes integrates provincial initiatives on peace, order, and resilience.
