Brian Ortega showed no signs of slowing down after a two-year lay-off from the octagon to pull-off an impressive unanimous decision win over “The Korean Zombie” Chan Jang Sung in UFC Fight Island 6.
Many were caught by surprise to see Ortega engage Sung in the striking game, an area where the latter excels at.
Not only was Ortega able to stand toe-to-toe against Sung in the striking game, he even connected on his attempts, showing everybody how his striking has improved over the years.
Many doubted Ortega’s striking ability after he took a beating from the UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway and seeing his premier jiu-jitsu skills negated by the stand-up game of the champ.
Ortega, realizing the flaw in his game, developed his striking and reaped the rewards in his fight against Sung.
At the start of the second round, Sung managed to hurt Ortega with his punches but was brought to the canvass courtesy of a well-timed spinning elbow by Ortega.
Sung was able to survive Ortega’s onslaught but did not recover in the next rounds and allowed the much-improved Ortega to grab the win.
