Anchored on the theme “Every Tree Planted is a Victory for the Environment,” the initiative brought together medical professionals, civic organizations, and environmental advocates in a united effort to promote lung health, environmental sustainability, and community responsibility. The activity was conducted in partnership with the Rotary Club of Iloilo South, Asclepius Medlab Corp., Share Love Charities, and the Philippine Society of General Surgeons.
The program was highlighted by an inspiring message from Dr. Rollin P. He stressed that caring for the environment is closely linked to protecting human lungs and public health, reminding participants that healthcare extends beyond hospital walls into the communities and ecosystems that sustain life.
Dr. Tabuena expressed gratitude to partner organizations and volunteers for their shared commitment to environmental stewardship, calling on everyone to plant not only trees but also lasting legacies of care, compassion, and responsibility.
Representing the Environment and Natural Resources Office ENRO, Armando Dayrit provided technical guidance on urban tree planting and announced the planting of 60 Bani (Millettia pinnata) seedlings, supported by the Urban Tree Planting and Nursery of Caingin, La Paz, ensuring sustainability through proper tree guards and maintenance.
Among those present were Dr. Ma. Theresa Crisanta Lim-Anayan, Dr. Jesusa Larang-Hortillosa, Dr. Bryan Evangelista, President of the Philippine College of General Surgeons, Dr. Segundo Anayan,
Dr. Elsie Locsin, President of Rotary Club of Iloilo South District 3850, and Ms. Arlene Martin, President of Share Love Foundation, together with members of Rotary Club of Iloilo South and partner organizations.
With strong collaboration among healthcare professionals, civic leaders, and environmental advocates, the activity successfully planted seedlings along the boulevard, marking a significant step toward a greener and healthier Iloilo.
The initiative stands as a powerful reminder that every tree planted is a breath of life for the community and a promise of hope for tomorrow.
