As with every contact sport, there is always the probability of players losing their cool and tempers flaring. The game between the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) and the Colegio De Sta. Ana De Victorias (CSA-V) was proof of this.
With just a minute and 10 seconds left in the ball game and CSA-V off to a dominating win, a brawl broke out, unfortunately.
In a video posted on social media, it can be seen that during the 1:15 mark of the final and with CSA-V leading 81-62 against WNU STI, a WNU player extended his right forearm against a CSA-V player trying to get the rebound, with the two eventually confronting each other.
As the camera panned to CSA-V’s basket, the referee then whistled multiple times with players seen storming the court where the two players stood erupting in a brawl. Coaches were even seen on the video manhandling players from the opposing team.
The brawl continued for at least a minute, with some fans in the sidelines eventually joining and attacking the CSA-V players.
No statements as of the moment were released by both squads.
