What an unfortunate way to end the season.
With only 11 games done out of the 82 scheduled matchups in the 2025–2026 NBA season, the Los Angeles Clippers’ newly acquired guard, Bradley Beal, has already been shut down due to a hip injury, announced on Nov. 13, 2025.
ESPN’s veteran NBA insider Shams Charania confirmed the devastating news, adding that the three-time NBA All-Star will undergo season-ending surgery to address a fracture in his left hip.
Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports, Beal’s NBA agent, explained that the Clippers’ medical staff had already met with numerous doctors and specialists, collectively agreeing on the specifics of the surgery through to the recovery phase.
Beal sustained the injury during the Clippers’ 114–103 loss to the Phoenix Suns last Sunday.
He exited the floor in the first half after feeling soreness in his hip and eventually didn’t return in the second half.
Across six games in the active season, Beal is currently averaging the worst offensive start of his NBA career, tallying only 8.2 points and 1.7 assists per contest.
The stat line marked a huge difference from his average over his first 14 years in the league, where he recorded 21.4 points and 4.3 assists while playing for the Washington Wizards and the Phoenix Suns.
Last July, Beal’s move from the Suns to Los Angeles was rated as one of the biggest offseason acquisitions for the struggling Clippers, adding more firepower to a roster already led by Kawhi Leonard and James Harden.
Beal’s tenure with the Suns didn’t translate to a winning culture, despite teaming up with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
His stay in Phoenix was also clouded with injuries — a sight the Suns didn’t want to see — after he dealt with hamstring, calf, toe, ankle, and hip issues last season.
Now that Beal is caught in another injury-plagued finish to an NBA season, the Clippers will have to make a crucial decision — whether to buy out his contract or risk another campaign ending in an unfinished stint.
