BACOLOD City – A four-year-old boy died after he was run over by a truck loaded with bottles of liquors in Barangay Camalobalo, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
Police withheld the name of the minor victim of Barangay Calapi Proper.
Police Executive Master Sergeant Loreto Perono, deputy chief of Hinigaran Municipal Police Station, said the victim was playing with other children on the roadside when he was sideswiped by the truck and was run over by the right rear tire of the vehicle.
Perono said the truck driver alleged that he was not speeding but that the victim allegedly suddenly appeared on the roadway.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead, according to Perono.
The truck was on its way to a delivery when the accident happened.
Perono said that both parties had an initial settlement. The truck driver was released from police custody yesterday, he added.
