BOC collects P68B, surpasses May 2022 target collection by P11B or +20.8%

Consistent with its mandate to collect lawful revenues for the country, the Bureau of Customs surpassed its May 2022 target collection by 20.8% or P11.767 billion, with an actual collection of P68.245 B against the P56.478 B target collection.

Based on the preliminary report from the BOC-Financial Service, fifteen of the seventeen collection districts exceeded their target for the month; Port of San Fernando, Port of Manila, MICP, Ports of Batangas, Legaspi, Iloilo, Cebu, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, Davao, Subic, Clark, Aparril, and Limay.

To date, the Bureau of Customs collected P322.472 billion since January reflecting the 47.5% of the 2022 annual target collection of P679.226 billion based on the same initial report.

Among the factors which contributed to the positive performance of the BOC since January this year include the improved valuation, intensified collection efforts, measures preventing revenue leakage, and the recovering economy of the country.

Despite this performance, the Bureau maintained its border security measures against undervaluation, misdeclaration and other forms of technical smuggling and collect lawful revenues. Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero commended the efforts of the District Collectors and the men and women of the Bureau of Customs who, despite the risk to their health and safety, showed their unwavering commitment and dedication to service.
