With the 2019 Southeast Asian Games Beach Volleyball event nearing, team manager Charo Soriano said they want nothing less but a podium finish this year.
She said that Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons had the training they needed for a convincing performance against the neighboring countries.
Having stayed in Subic for almost a week now, the PH beach volleyball squad has been training under the sun and is expected to take advantage of their familiarity with the court.
“We are fortunate to be able to be at the venue early and we are scheduling training both in the morning and in the evening so the athletes can get used to the sand and lighting conditions,” Soriano said.
The duo of Rondina and Pons also had a great tournament appearance in the 2019 Rebisco Beach Volleyball International Open where they were crowned as champions.
After a 14-year medal drought in the SEAG beach volleyball event, the PH squad and management are excited and enthusiastic about their team’s preparations.
