BACOLOD CITY — A 37-year-old jobless man was arrested for the first time on drug charges after police seized PHP 6.97 million worth of suspected shabu from a boarding house in Barangay Tangub on Saturday.
The suspect, identified by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) only as alias “Paul,” is a resident of Barangay 18 but was temporarily staying in Barangay Tangub.
He was apprehended for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Capt. Greeky Cayao, head of Police Station 8, said the suspect had been under surveillance for a month following intelligence reports from previously arrested drug suspects.
Cayao said the suspect allegedly stored a large volume of illegal drugs and distributed them to various areas.
He was classified as a high-value individual.
Authorities confiscated 1,025 grams of suspected shabu from the suspect.
The buy-bust operation was conducted by Police Station 8 in coordination with the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU).
Meanwhile, from December 1 to 7, the BCPO arrested 13 individuals in nine anti-drug operations, resulting in the seizure of suspected shabu worth PHP 4.1 million.
