BACOLOD CITY — Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, director of the Bacolod City Police Office, warned seven newly assigned police station commanders to deliver measurable results within three months or risk being relieved from their posts.
Coronica said the commanders are expected to immediately address key public safety concerns, particularly robbery, shooting incidents, and illegal drug activities.
“This is their time to shine,” Coronica said, adding that police officers must be adaptable and ready to perform. “They have to hit the ground running.”
Coronica led the turnover of office ceremony Wednesday at the BCPO gymnasium, where seven of the city’s 10 police station commanders were reshuffled.
He said some transfers were due to officers being assigned for schooling, while others had already served nearly two years and were due for rotation.
The newly assigned station commanders are Police Capt. Efren Legada (Police Station 1), Police Capt. Andro Ma-apni (Police Station 3), Police Capt. Ramie Sayson (Police Station 5), Police Capt. Peter John Ramos (Police Station 6), Police Capt. Jay-r Reyes (Police Station 7), Police Capt. Sherwin Galupar (Police Station 8), and Police Capt. Genus David (Police Station 10).
They replaced Police Capt. Francis Depasucat (Police Station 1), Police Capt. Rondyl Tapang (Police Station 3), Police Capt. Hazel Oropel (Police Station 5), Police Capt. Rosalino Pugoy (Police Station 6), Police Capt. Dax Santillan (Police Station 7), Police Capt. Greeky Cayao (Police Station 8), and Police Capt. Glenn Montaño (Police Station 10).
Coronica said Oropel will be transferred to the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region headquarters.
He added that Police Capt. Andy Ofalia, head of Police Station 9, will remain in his post as the station recently underwent partial demolition.
Coronica said the station must first stabilize before its eventual transfer to Barangay Cabug as a permanent location.
The other station commanders who retained their posts are Police Capt. Joeil Reclamado of Police Station 4 and Police Capt. Eugene Tolentino of Police Station 2.
Coronica said commanders who meet or exceed expectations will be retained, while those who fail to deliver will be replaced.
“If they are performing well, there is no reason to remove them. But if their performance is far from expectations, we have officers waiting,” he said. “That’s why we are giving them enough time and a clear timeline.”
He said the BCPO established target indicators in December that will be used to measure each station’s performance against crime statistics.
“They have to show their worth, really,” Coronica said.
Coronica also stressed the need to prevent criminals from freely roaming the streets, particularly repeat offenders involved in theft and robbery.
“Known thieves and robbers should not be allowed to move around freely because they might victimize people. There should be ways to monitor and neutralize them,” he said.
He added that crime often thrives in areas with increased economic activity, making close performance monitoring essential.
Coronica directed the new commanders to continue initiatives started by their predecessors, especially efforts to resolve high-profile and long-standing unsolved cases.
“They have enough time to prove that they can perform,” he said.
