BACOLOD CITY – The Department of Health-Regional Licensing and Enforcement Division (DOH-RLED) has granted the Bago City Health Office (CHO) a license to operate as a Primary Care Facility (PCF), marking a major milestone in the city’s public health services.
The CHO is now the 11th PCF in Negros Occidental and the 25th local government unit-owned PCF in the Negros Island Region.
As a licensed PCF, the CHO is authorized to provide expanded health services, including a birthing facility, Level 2 clinical laboratory, dental care, minor surgical procedures, pharmacy services, ambulance operations, and X-ray services through a Memorandum of Understanding.
Mayor Mayette Javellana said the achievement reflects her administration’s priority of delivering accessible and quality healthcare to all Bagonhons.
“Thank you for all of your hard work,” Javellana told CHO personnel during the announcement.
“We couldn’t have done this without your sacrifices, your passion, your love for what you do, and your dedication to the service that you took oath,” she added.
Dr. Anna Andrea Libo-on, DOH-RLED Negros Island Region Section Head for Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance, together with Licensing Officer II and PCF focal person Gerald Escalera, formally announced the license and congratulated the city government.
“This license ensures that Bagonhons are receiving top-notch healthcare from their own city health office,” Libo-on said.
City Health Officer Dr. Ferdinand Ramon Mayoga also expressed his gratitude and said, “This is the fruit of our labor, and we are thankful for the direction of the administration in prioritizing healthcare among its constituents.”
Councilor Leonilo del Carmen, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Health, also witnessed the ceremony.
City officials said the recognition validates the competence and dedication of Bago City’s healthcare workers.
They added that it further positions the city as a leader in healthcare delivery in Negros Occidental and strengthens the administration’s commitment to provide quality and accessible services for all residents.
