BACOLOD CITY — The Bacolod City government has increased the monthly allowance of more than 1,000 uniformed personnel from the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology from PHP 1,500 to PHP 2,000, effective this month.
Mayor Greg Gasataya announced the increase during the flag-raising ceremony at the Bacolod City Government Center on Monday.
Gasataya said the benefit is part of the city’s continuing commitment to recognize and support uniformed personnel tasked with maintaining peace, order, and public safety.
“You all carry the weight of our safety, for which we are deeply thankful,” the mayor said.
The allowance increase is in addition to the city government’s annual PHP 20.5 million allocation for the BCPO’s peace and order programs and initiatives.
City officials said the funding also supports police mobility, anti-criminality operations, and crime-solving efforts across the city.
Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, BCPO director, welcomed the move and said it would help improve the morale and welfare of police personnel.
“This is a big boost that could raise the morale and welfare of our policemen,” Coronica said.
He added that the additional support helps fund operational needs, including repair and maintenance, and other logistical requirements necessary for police functions.
The city government said the allowance increase underscores its broader effort to strengthen coordination with uniformed services as part of its public safety and security agenda.
