Bacolod police form task group over Indian’s killing

BACOLOD CITY — The Bacolod City Police Office has formed a special investigation task group to investigate the fatal shooting of an Indian national in Purok Bayanihan, Barangay Villamonte, on Tuesday night.

Police Col. Eugene Rebadomia, BCPO director, said investigators were reviewing the victim’s movements before the attack to identify the perpetrators and determine his background.

Rebadomia said the BCPO had launched hot-pursuit and dragnet operations to arrest the suspects.

He assured the public that the police were using all available investigative and operational resources to resolve the case swiftly.

“The BCPO strongly condemned this senseless act of violence,” Rebadomia said in a statement.

Rebadomia directed police units to intensify their investigative efforts and pursue all possible leads to identify and apprehend those responsible.

He also urged anyone with relevant information to immediately coordinate with the nearest police station so that justice may be served.

Police Maj. Marc Joeil Reclamado, head of Police Station 4, said the victim was found dead near his motorcycle with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Reclamado said the victim was on his way home when two unidentified men on a motorcycle reportedly followed and attacked him at about 9 p.m.

Authorities recovered a bullet slug and three spent cartridges from an unidentified firearm at the scene.

Reclamado said police had yet to confirm whether the victim was involved in the lending business.

The victim had been staying in Bacolod for about five months, Reclamado said.

Investigators were working to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and determine the motive.

The shooting occurred on Aug. 4, and initial reports identified the victim only as an Indian national.
