BACOLOD CITY — At least 50 major activities are lined up for the remaining 10 days of the 47th MassKara Festival as the city government officially kicked off the festival’s highlight period Friday.
More than 11,000 revelers joined the city government, led by Mayor Greg Gasataya, for the official launch at the Bacolod City Government Center.
The program was followed by a fireworks display and a free concert featuring OPM band Silent Sanctuary.
“As we kick off MassKara 2026, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped make this year’s festival a vibrant and joyful celebration,” Gasataya said.
Dubbed the “10-Day MassKara High,” the series of activities from Oct. 9 to 18 features competitions, cultural showcases, pageants, sports events, concerts, community programs, tourism activities and brand activations across the city.
The packed schedule reflects the festival’s “MassKara For All” concept, with activities for dancers, singers, athletes, pageant enthusiasts, children, families, communities, businesses, creatives and entertainment fans.
The 10-Day MassKara High opened Oct. 9 with five activities: MassKareppin Elimination 2, Miss Bacolod MassKara Corporate Day, MassKarap Battle, GSM Ginuman and the Choreographers Showdown.
On Oct. 10, the festival continued with PetsKara, the Drum and Lyre Corps Competition and Manulife Zumbigrams 2026 Move and Groove.
Five activities were scheduled Oct. 11: Market Day 1, Super KidsKara, Miss Bacolod MassKara Coronation Night, SingKara Elimination 1 and the K5 League of Champions Season 5.
Community and sectoral participation will take center stage Oct. 12 with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Bacolod City Convergence Day 2026, MassKareyna Sashing and Preliminary Q&A, Market Day 2 and Bidang Sektor.
The festival continues Oct. 13 with the MassKareyna Talent and Festival Costume Competition, SingKara Elimination 2, MassKarap Battle and the Bootcamp/Hackathon at SMX Bacolod.
On Oct. 14, the schedule includes Mega Puppets, the MassKareppin Finals, Roy’s Hotel 80s Party & Charity Event, Toda Day and the continuing Bootcamp/Hackathon.
Activities on Oct. 15 include the MassKareyna Coronation Night, Bombo Radyo Battle of the Bands and another day of the Bootcamp/Hackathon.
The pace accelerates Oct. 16, the busiest day on the official calendar, with six listed activities: Hataw Sayaw sa Plaza, Electric MassKara, SingKara Finals, the opening of the Lacson Tourism Strip, the Benitez Million Pickleball Cup and Lyve Fest Bacolod 2026.
The Lacson Tourism Strip will run from Oct. 16 to 18, adding another major entertainment and tourism destination to the festival.
The strip will feature multiple themed zones and activations, including The Mountain Dew Lane, The Orange Booth, Acacia Fun Street, Casino Plus Fun Village, JTI Village, Ginebra Block, Coca-Cola Refresh Zone, SMB, Erceflora, Spectrum Win Festival and the Pinas Astig Nationwide Rap Battle.
The 10-Day MassKara High will also feature brand activations and partner-led events bringing performers, celebrities and other entertainment personalities closer to the public through appearances, concerts and shows.
The festival reaches its peak Oct. 17 and 18 with the return of the major Streetdance and Arena competitions.
The Oct. 17 lineup includes the Streetdance and Arena Schools Category, Globe Music Fest and the first day of the Benitez Million Pickleball Cup.
The 10-day run concludes Oct. 18 with the Streetdance and Arena Barangay Category at its new location along SM City Bacolod, the Coke Studio Concert and Day 2 of the Benitez Million Pickleball Cup.
The Streetdance and Arena competitions will again bring together contingents in a showcase of choreography, music, creativity and Bacolodnon pride.
While the official calendar lists 45 activities and event components, the broader festival program exceeds that number as partner venues and brands stage additional activations and entertainment programs.
This year’s festival carries the theme “Share the Smile. Celebrate Gugma.”
For the Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc., the 10-Day MassKara High is not simply about increasing the number of events.
The organizers said the goal is to create more spaces for public participation, more stages for talent, more destinations for visitors and more opportunities for communities and partners to take part in the celebration.
