BACOLOD CITY — Police seized about 140 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP 952,000 from a 23-year-old man in Purok Cereza South, Barangay 3, on Tuesday.
The City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested the suspect, identified as Jenjen, a resident of the village who was tagged as a high-value individual.
Police Lt. Richard Legada, CDEU assistant team leader, said the suspect was believed to have been tasked with keeping the contraband, a role locally referred to as “bodegero.”
The suspect allegedly sold illegal drugs to a police poseur-buyer for PHP 1,000, according to a police report.
Police said the suspect had been under monitoring for two weeks before the buy-bust operation was carried out.
The suspect is detained at Police Station 2 pending the filing of drug charges.
The operation followed another CDEU drug bust last week, when police confiscated PHP 2.1 million worth of suspected shabu from a teenager in Barangay 2.
Shabu is the local term for methamphetamine hydrochloride, which remains among the most commonly seized illegal drugs in police operations in the Philippines.
