BACOLOD CITY — The Bacolod City Treasurer’s Office reported a strong start to the year after collections from the Business One-Stop Shop rose by 44.18% in the first days of January 2026 compared with the same period last year.
Mayor Greg Gasataya thanked taxpayers for their continued trust in the city government as revenues from the Business One-Stop Shop showed a sharp increase.
Data from the City Treasurer’s Office showed that early January 2026 BOSS collections reached PHP 39,362,914.39, up from PHP 27,299,468.81 in the same period in 2025.
The increase translated to an additional PHP 12,063,445.58 in revenues year on year.
Gasataya said the improved performance reflects growing taxpayer confidence and the effectiveness of reforms in city systems.
“For the first days of BOSS operations, we are seeing a 44 percent increase in collections compared with the same period last year,” he said.
Daily records showed collections peaked on the fifth day at PHP 11,880,044.08.
Collections on the fourth day also posted strong results at PHP 9,916,283.45.
Although the sixth day registered a temporary decline compared with last year, overall performance remained strong due to early transactions, including cedula and business-related fees.
City officials attributed the increase to the streamlined BOSS process, which has made business registration and renewal faster and more convenient.
The Bacolod City government formally launched the Business One-Stop Shop on Jan. 5, 2026, at the City Government Center lobby to accommodate business registration and renewal.
The BOSS is designed to simplify procedures and shorten processing time for local entrepreneurs.
Earlier, the Sangguniang Panlungsod approved on first, second, and third and final reading an ordinance extending the deadline for business permit applications and renewals until March 31, 2026.
The ordinance grants businesses that pay on or before Feb. 28, 2026, a 10% discount on business permit fees.
Payments made from March 1 to March 31, 2026, will be accepted without penalties or surcharges.
The measure, authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito, aims to provide relief and flexibility to business owners, particularly small and medium enterprises, while supporting the city’s revenue targets.
“This extension gives our business community enough time to comply without unnecessary pressure, while still encouraging early payment through incentives,” Distrito said.
Gasataya also addressed concerns about the city’s closed-circuit television ordinance during his first press conference of the year.
He clarified that only businesses with capitalization of PHP 3 million and above are required to install CCTV systems.
Small establishments, including sari-sari stores with capitalization as low as PHP 50,000, are not covered by the requirement.
The city government encouraged business owners to take advantage of the extended deadline and comply within the prescribed period.
