BACOLOD CITY — A one-year-old baby girl died while two others, including her mother, were injured after their tricycle swerved and overturned in Hacienda Balandra 2, Barangay Daga, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday.
Police identified the injured as a 29-year-old man identified only as Jun and the 45-year-old mother of the child, all residents of Barangay Andres Bonifacio.
Police Lt. Daleen Grace Loreno, deputy chief of the Cadiz City Police Station, said the baby’s mother asked a neighbor to take them to the city proper that morning.
Loreno said Jun lost control of the tricycle after the front fender became lodged in the front wheel.
She said the baby slipped from her mother’s arms when the tricycle fell on its side.
The child was taken to a hospital but died a few hours later, while Jun and the baby’s mother sustained minor injuries, Loreno said.
Loreno added that both parties later reached a settlement.
