KALIBO, AKLAN. Two college students of Aklan State University Kalibo Campus copped the two major places in the 27th Philippine Statistics Quiz Provincial Level conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority at Aklan Catholic College on October 25.
These freshmen students who bagged the tops spots were Ms. Jeriah Borrerros, First Place, and Ma. Jedel Idolog, Second Place. They are both taking up BS in Civil Engineering course in the said university.
They vested 22 other contestants coming from different colleges and universities in the province.
Meanwhile, Mr. Rob Joseph Emman Ricamonte of ASU Ibajay took home the 3rd Place.
Winners were awarded with a certificate of recognition, cash prize and tokens given by Engr. Antonet B. Catubuan, Chief Statistical Specialist of PSA Aklan.
These three will represent the province of Aklan in the regional competition to be held in Iloilo City on November 10, 2023.
The PSQ is conducted among freshmen college students to promote and instill the value of statistics to the youths for decision making, policy formulation and other development program initiatives.
It was held in line with the celebration of the 34th National Statistics Month in Aklan with the theme: “Accelerating Progress: Promoting Data and Statistics for Healthy Philippines.”
The participating schools for this year’s PSQ are Aklan Catholic College (ACC), Libacao College of Science and Technology (LSCT), Northwestern Visayan Colleges (NVC), STI Kalibo and ASU Banga, Ibajay, Kalibo and New Washington Campus.
