The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) announced that they will be conducting the first-ever Athlete’s Forum for all the para-athletes based in Asia.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the APC thought of the forum as an eye-opener and a future boost to all the para-athletes who are struggling with the crisis so far.
Para-athletes from all of the 44 Asian National Paralympic Committees will receive an invitation from APC and will be expected to grace the virtual event from December 2-3, 2020.
“We have a clear vision to make for an inclusive Asia through para-sport and it is the athletes acting as role models who will drive this. We put them at the heart of our activity and therefore I’m delighted to announce the first-ever Athlete Forum for our region,” said APC president Majid Rashed.
The APC then revealed some of the topics to be discussed for the forum such as: the added information and criteria for future games and the emphasis of the organization to let women join more para-events.
“This will help our athletes be informed about key issues that can help them in their sporting careers and afterwards but also crucially it gives them a platform to share their views which will help us in our future decision making,” added Rashed.
The APC forum will be strongly supported and backed by the Korean Paralympic Committee and both organizations are already working hand-in-hand for finalization of the grand event.
