SAN JOSE, Antique – The province of Antique is gearing up for the observance of the 30th National Statistics Month in October 2019.
Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (PPDC) Julie Cepe urged all agencies of government, local government units and non-government organizations to join the event to increase public awareness on the importance of statistics in the development of the province.
With this year’s theme “Data Innovation: Key to a Better Nation”, Cepe count on the support of local government units and government agencies to make statistics of their offices available and easy to understand by everyone, may it be for planning, researches or implementation of specific projects.
During the meeting of various institutions, the group agreed to launch the program on October 7, 2019 at EBJ Freedom Park, after the parade around the major streets of San Jose de Buenavista.
The kick-off ceremony will also feature the opening of Statistical Exhibits of different agencies at the New Capitol Lobby.
PIA News Service, a radio program of Philippine Information Agency will also feature the NSM celebration on October 2.
The Statistical Quiz for high school students will be held on October 18 for the provincial level and October 25 for the Regional competition.
A symposium on “Data Innovation: Key to a Better Nation” will also be conducted to students to broaden their awareness on the importance statistics in building our country.
The celebration of the National Statistics Month is in pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 signed by then President Corazon C. Aquino on September 20, 1990 declaring the month of October every year as National Statistics Month.
NEDA Secretary Ernesto M. Pernia has likewise issued Memorandum Circular 2019-07 enjoining all national agencies, local government units, government owned and controlled corporations, non-government organizations, state colleges and universities and the public sector to actively participate in the celebration.
The Province of Antique has allocated funds for the observance of NSM in partnership with the Philippine Statistics Authority and other concerned agencies. (PIA-Antique)
